Mother/Daughter Manicures - What a Way to Celebrate a Birthday!

Today was a wonderful day of turning another year older.  I was lucky enough to have so many friends and family wish me "happy birthday," to receive some wonderful gifts including an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins (yummy!), and to go to a fun dinner with my hubby and kiddos (no cooking for me!).

But my 3 (almost 4) year old daughter and I shared a special time together that I will cherish forever.  I know it may sound silly, but I have never seen her so excited or appreciative of something.  She and I got manicures and pedicures together.  My plan was to hold out on doing this with her for as long as possible because I don't want to create false expectations.  By making it a trip to the nail salon to celebrate my birthday, I hope that I instilled that it was a special treat for both of us.

She sat so still and was such a good listener.  Everyone in the nail salon fell in love with her, and they nearly enjoyed her excitement as much as I did. And for 6 extra bucks, it was seriously worth every penny, not to mention cheaper than paying a babysitter.

I think I have found a new tradition for my daughter and I to follow for years to come.  What a great day!
