Fab-U-Wish™: A Fabulous New Charity

Tonight on E!News, Giuliana Rancic announced an amazing new charity called Fab-U-Wish™.  As a breast cancer survivor, Rancic realized that getting dolled up for work while undergoing treatment was a special kind of therapy that made her feel good about herself.

Rancic, along with Bright Pink, wants to share that same brightness with other young breast and ovarian cancer survivors, and aims to play fairy godmother to women in need of a little refuge. (Bright Pink is the only national non-profit organization that focuses on the  prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women while still providing support for high-risk individuals.)

Fab-U-Wish
wants to make dreams come true for women 45 and younger undergoing treatment for ovarian or breast cancer.  There is an opportunity to nominate someone you know, or if you are undergoing treatment yourself, you can submit yourself directly on the website.

Fab-U-Wish is teaming up with Rancic's E! Network to really try and make a little bit of fabulous go a long way.  As Rancic mentioned, a red carpet experience or a lunch with Bradley Cooper are all in the realm of possibility.  Indulgent? Perhaps.  But as she points out, indulging in the things that made her look and feel good about herself, helped her remain her outgoing, optimistic, and confident self, and not solely focused on her breast cancer.

Kudos to Giuliana Rancic for using her celebrity status to spread awareness to young women about breast and ovarian cancers and for helping those that are going through it.

Community Garage Sale - What a Success!

Our Community had a garage sale this weekend.  And this is how our cul de sac turned into a parking lot...

All I can say is, "Don't get in a garage saler's way!"

And they parked down the street, too!

To say it was a success, was putting it mildly.  And what was wonderful was that after the garage sale ended at noon, The Vietnam Veterans of America were able to pick up all items not sold for donation to their wonderful charity.

Other than my 7-year old getting a 102.6 fever, it was a good day!

With One Click, One Dollar Goes to Toys for Tots

The holidays are coming to a close, and hopefully the season was very merry for you. But for some kids, Santa doesn’t make a stop at their house. Which is where Toys for Tots comes in – helping provide thousands of toys for families in need. It’s really a wonderful program.

To help this great cause, CouponMountain.com (an online coupon code site) has pledged to give up to $50,000. But it’s up to you how much Toys for Tots will get. Because they’re going to give $1 for every Facebook Fan they have on Dec. 31.

So please – take a minute to log on and “Like” CouponMountain. Then pass it on.

How You Can Give $1 to Toys for Tots:

· Select “Like”

Blog it Forward...For a Great Cause

Let’s Eat Cake, an amazing fundraiser hosted by the equally amazing Melissa Margarita-DiStefano, is coming up quick: Tuesday, February 17th at the Plaza Paramount Hotel! Let’s Eat Cake is a cake decorating competition with all proceeds going to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Learn more about the fundraiser right here.

In an effort to make sure we get the word out to everyone (and raise money), we are starting this chain-blog (Ok, not sure if that is correct terminology. But it’s like a chain letter so let’s just go with it, shall we?)

Here’s what we need you to do…Repost this post (or create your own new version) on your blog and ask others to post it on their blogs. Melissa will donate one dollar to the fundraiser for EVERY BLOG that posts on Let’s Eat Cake this week! With the power of the blogosphere, that can QUICKLY add up! Let’s make Melissa Pay! Once you have reposted it, leave a comment letting us know that you posted it along with the url to the blog. It’s for a great cause and it will be fun to see how far it will go! So lets do it… Lets blog it forward and raise money for a great cause!!!

**Kudos to Unique Designs for creating this fun chain-blog effort!**

(Yes, I copied the Hip Hostess word for word. Why try to replicate something that is already so great?!?)

Please pay up, Melissa!

Brides Against Breast Cancer

It is a simple concept...donate your wedding dress, make a dream come true for a woman or man suffering from terminal breast cancer.

Some of you may have already had your dress boxed and sealed. But for the many that still have their dresses hanging in the closet, donating your dress could be the best (and easiest) thing you do with it. Your donation will give brides-to-be the opportunity to find the dress of their dreams at a fantastic price, while helping to make wishes and memory-making events come true.

To find out more information about how you can donate your dress, check out Brides Against Breast Cancer at Making Memories.com. They are more than happy to take contemporary dresses, slips, and veils dating from 1995 to the present.
