How Many Calories are in 1 M&M?

My husband discovered a wonderful treat at the grocery store today...100 calorie pack of M&M's. And I was pleasantly surprised that there were 30 M&M's in this 100 calorie pack. (I was expecting maybe 10.) So, if you do the math of 30 divided by 100, that means there is about 3.33 calories in each M&M. How can that be possible??? That seems too good to be true!?!?!

If you think about it, the chewing of the M&M alone would burn off the 3.33 calories.

The other good news...now that you know 30 M&M's are put in a 100 calorie pack, you don't have to always buy those specific packs. You can buy a regular bag of M&M's and create your own rations. (Hey, if you only want a 50 calorie snack, just eat 15 M&Ms.)

By the way, these are the plain Milk Chocolate M&M's that I am talking about. I don't know about you, but I feel a lot better about eating M&M's now. Let's just hope my clothes feel the same way!

Team Event/Project Manager with Fed Gov Division of major telecom -- Since joining this team in 2005, overall team consumption of allllll varieties of M&Ms has climbed to an all time high during this recession! One colleague purchased a glass / wood dispenser; about 20 of us keep it filled continually. Currently on hand to replenish: five large bags, one medium. Having now found the calorie-per-piece, I've labeled the dispenser with the 3.33 notice!

Thanks for posting the fact...
