Cinderella is Finally Coming out on Blu-ray & DVD + $5 OFF Coupon
As a young girl, Cinderella was easily my favorite princess. To be honest, I really didn't know much about the other Disney Princesses until my daughter came along and fell in love with ALL of them.
That is why I am so thrilled that Disney is finally releasing a digital version of Cinderella tomorrow, October 2. (Yes, Mommy's can like princess movies, too!)
And if you are a Disney Movie Rewards member, you can score yourself a $5 off coupon toward the purchase of the Cinderella 3-disc Blu-ray combo pack. (Don't worry, it's free to join.)
Oh, and after looking through the Sunday ads, it looks like Target has the lowest price on the Blu-ray combo pack ($23).

Brave Opens Today
Who is going to see the new Disney/PIXAR movie Brave this weekend?
You better believe this girl is!
She has already asked if she can wear the wig to the movie theater.
Can't wait to tell you all about it!

Why is Smurfette the Only Girl Smurf?
I have heard many ask this question lately, especially since the movie was released this past Friday. I suppose that same question was asked when the cartoon series was on TV way back in the day. But since I was the key demographic, I never heard it or understood it.
What's funny is that I still think Smurfette is the only girl Smurf for the same reason I thought when I was 7 years old: Smurfette was almost like a princess that was protected by the brainiest, the strongest, and the clumsiest Smurfs, and they lived to protect her. Perhaps this is a little naive, but what do you expect from a 7-year old? Back in the original days, they didn't really have cartoons like The Simpsons or The Family Guy that on purpose take the innocence of a cartoon and blend it with more mature themes and topics.
Why do you think Smurfette is the only girl Smurf? And please, keep your thoughts PG!

Rango - So Good It Put Me to Sleep

Our kids begged and begged us to see Rango this weekend since it came out on Friday. And since my husband hadn't been to the movies with the kids and quite some time, he gave in to their opening weekend demands.
My final verdict: Skip it.
I wasn't exactly thrilled about going to see the movie to begin with. But after seeing it, I was even less thrilled. The movie seemed so targeted at kids, but it really wasn't appropriate for an almost 6 year old and 3 year old. The line that stood out that was most inappropriate was, "Go to hell." Yeah, that's not a phrase I want the kids to use on the playground any time soon. And then there was the rather scary snake - naturally he was named "Jake." When he appeared, I really contemplated taking the kids out of the theater in fear of this character causing a streak of nightmares. Again, it was just not appropriate for 3 and almost 6 year olds.
My 3 year old fell asleep for about 45 minutes of the movie (not quite half), and I nodded off on many occasions. Maybe I was hoping for something more like MegaMind or Despicable Me...you know entertaining. I thought the movie was much more suited for adults than kids.
I will admit, I enjoy most of the movies my kids like...Enchanted, MegaMind, Shrek 1,2,3, and Ever After, and Tangled. But I did not enjoy this movie in the least bit. We have purchased nearly every movie the kids have seen in the theater. But Rango is definitely not a movie I will purchase for them.
Sorry, Rango. You don't get this mommy's stamp of approval.
