How to Make Hair Bows - a DIY Tutorial

This fall I am so excited to be the coach for my daughter's soccer team. Before the season started,  I was able to meet up with the team and give them their uniforms. Because the uniforms are red and black, the girls decided they want their team name to be the Ladybugs.

As the coach (and a mommy) I couldn't resist the opportunity to make he girls matching hair bows.

Here are the steps I took to make these simple hair ties:

First I went to Target and purchased elastic hair ties. (I found them in the dollar bins. Score!) Then, I went to Michaels to buy red, black, white and ladybug ribbons of different textures, sheen and widths and cut equal-length pieces of each. (Of course, these colors matched my ladybug theme, and you can choose any ribbons of your liking. I do recommend choosing at least 2 or 3 different colors or sheen to show depth.)

Lice: What All Parents Need to Know

Last week I got a call that my next door neighbors had lice.  My kids play with the neighbors next door all the time...great!

Then today I got a call from my neighbor two doors down on the other side that they have lice.  Once again, my kids interact with them all the time.

Keep Your Hair Healthy

Every woman wants beautiful, glowing and healthy hair (okay, Britney shaving her hair doesn't count). Keep your hair beautiful all year round with a few preventive measures:

• Don't blow dry your hair completely dry. Stop when it is slightly damp.


• Vary the position of your ponytail. An elastic in the same spot every day will cause breakage.


• Handle wet hair with care - use a wide-toothed comb when combing out your hair after a shower.

A few little Gray Hairs - What to Do?

Okay, just because you have a gray hair, that doesn't mean you are OLD! Even though you think it means you are old, it doesn't! Some people start getting gray hair as early as their teenage years, so if you are past those years, you are ahead of the game! And if you have a child (or even just a spouse), then you probably have a gray hair or two.
