Our Big Boy's First Soccer Game

This month is full of firsts. Last week was my son's first day of kindergarten. Tomorrow is my daughter's first day of preschool. On Saturday, my son had his first soccer game.

For my son, this was the first time putting on his cleats, the first time putting on his "force fields" (a.k.a. shin guards), and the first time he seemed to actually enjoy the sport he was playing. (Sorry Pee Wee baseball, you just don't compare to the fun of soccer!)

He learned the fun lesson of keeping his shirt tucked in. That is one of his coach's rules. Mommy likes it!

At half time, to took a moment to give some love to his biggest fan. His sister walked right up to him and said, "Good job, Jake!" It was so sweet!

Then it was time to put his game face back on. While it looks like me may be tired in this picture, he is actually in his ready stance...ready to attack!

Once the game was over, the boys gave their opponents, The Sharks, a great "2-4-6-8, who do we appreciate" cheer and then "good gamed" their opponents. Goals were scored, but the score was not kept. They are only five...they've got plenty of time for that!

Go Green Machine! (That's their team name. The kids came up with it themselves!)
