First of all...Happy Anniversary.!!!!
My ideas- make a picnic in the lr ,you can order in or cook but have a romantic picnic in the lr..cheaper and still romantic or do a midnight picnic out in the backyard in a tent. I know silly but our thing is not how much you spend but instead being together. SUre you can have family over, but you married your hubs and its your day, not a party for stress day.

Wow, what timing - my husband and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary next May. We had always intended to get married in Vegas but then I found out I had a little one on the way so those plans were put to the side. Well, for our 10th anniversary, I am taking him to Vegas (finally!) and I'm going to surprise him with a renewal of vows with an Elvis impersonator! I can't wait to see his face. Congratulations!

My husband took me to Santa Monica for three days. We stayed at the Lowe's right off the beach and did nothing but lay out on the beach, walk the pier and relax.

For our tenth anniversary we left the kids and went to Mexico for a week. The first three days were great, but by day four I was saying we are on this beach where are the kids. So I guess I am saying that a week without the kids is too much.

The best gift I received for our 8th anniversary was a gift cert to a local restraunt, combined with a certificate to the beauty shop, and a free nights babysitting service. It covered my excuses for not going out.

Our last anniversary , we went on a picnic down by the river. It was so nice to spend some time together. Watching the rapids was neat too.

Congratulations on your 5th anniversary.
Every year for 28 years I order a cake about the the size of the top layer of a wedding cake. We used flowers on top of our orignal wedding cake so I found silk flowers in the same colors and use them as a topper.
Every year we have a cake cutting "ceremony" and feed each other the first bite.

Congratulations on your
5th Anniversary. This year we will celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary and I can tell you that it only gets better with the years. We try to take a cruise on our anniversary because that way we can spend time together without worrying about the cooking or the cleaning of everyday life. On a cruise you are treated like a king and queen and can devote some time to just enjoying each others company and experience new things together.

On our last anniversary, we drove up to the mountains, hiked to a waterfall, and had a picnic lunch in a beautiful, romantic setting.

For our last anniversary we packed a picnic lunch and headed to a secluded mountain spot spending the day with only nature and ourselves. It was wonderful getting away from everything devoting our time to only each other. We will celebrate our next anniversary the same way. :)

congratulations on your 5 year wedding anniversary. Traditional wedding anniversary for 5 years is wood and silver. During the day sit and relax at a park with maybe some wine and cheese, and carve your names into a tree(wood). For dinner go all out and eat a one of those restaraunts you have been dying to go to for years (silver). They say to a mans heart is through his stomach. Whatever you choose, hope you have a great 5 year anniversary.

My husband and I were married four years ago, surrounded by family and friends, in Jamaica. For our fifth anniversary our guests our suggesting we do a "reuniversary" by inviting all of them to celebrate with us again. I think it would be so much fun to do this so I think I am going to try to make it happen. Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary! My husband and I have been married for 14 1/2 years. We never do anything special for our anniversary, maybe go out for dinner, but really nothing overly fancy. For our 10th Anniversary though we went on a Disney Cruise (we went to Disney World for our Honeymoon). We loved it!

Congrats on 5 years of marriage! I tend to be more sentimental for occasions like these...for our 5 year anniversary I found some old love letters we wrote to each other and make them into a book. I surprised him with them book and we read them together. Although I think he thought it was kind of sappy, I really treasured looking back at all those mushy things we used to write to eachother, especially after kids.

For our last dating anniversary, my fiancee and I picnic-ed at the location of our future wedding reception (a beautiful pavilion in a park), so next year, on our 1 year wedding anniversary, I can definitely see us doing that again.
Plus, we'd love to take an anniversary trips every year, to visit all the great places there are to see in the states: 1st up: Napa Valley!

We don't exchange gifts. There's nothing we could possibly give each other. We have each other, and that's all that matters. My husband goes to a restaurant and orders food to take home that the whole family shares together.

Anonymous said...

I researched the meanings of my husband's first name, middle and last name. I all researched my step-son's full name. I researched my husband's Dad and Mother's full names. I typed the names, their origins and meanings in some beautiful borders. That is what I am giving my husband for our anniversary, so he can put it in his scrapbook. It's his year to pick out where we'll go to dinner, or maybe he'll make me something special at home. We like to snuggle up to a good movie at home, and of course, go to bed early.

One day, when I have the money, I want to show up at my husbands work in a limo, all dressed up. I want to pick him up, bring him a change of clothes, and bring him away for the night to a beautiful hotel.

This would all be a surprise to him.

I am going to make a wall mural to go in our bedroom, made of all the important memories we have shared since the day we met. It will include such things as a bus (we met on a bus), a newspaper ad for the restaurant we first ate at (it was a fancy German one because my husband is German), key words put together from letters in magazines (words that mean something only to my husband and me), it will also have a dried piece of the first flowers he gave me, and it will have pictures of other precious moments in our lives. This will be the second time I have made one of these for him. The first one I made for him on our very first wedding anniversary. This one will be for our 10th anniversary! Thank you for the contest!

Happy anniversary to you and your husband! I think anything simple and relaxing, like a weekend away in a beautiful area, is the way to go. Homemade gifts are always meaningful. Try making a gift basket - one fun idea is to buy wine glasses, and set them in a basket with bath salts, lotions, etc. Then get some Ferrero Rocher (or whatever gourmet chocolate you like) and fill the wine glasses with it. Maybe include some other treats, like gourmet coffee or teas. Top it off with a heartfelt card or poem.

Thanks for offering the greta giveaway! My name is Beeb, and I am from Seaside, Oregon, USA. My email is fwuffles AT jaided.com :)

Happy anniversary, how fun! I like going with the traditional anniversary gifts. But to celebrate, I like creating experiences - so going to a new restaurant we haven't tried yet and wanted to, a weekend camping, and for our 10 year, I'm planning to have us go on a big trip (maybe invite a few friends)... maybe jamaica, banff, or ??. Have a blast on your anniversary!!

Our anniversary is a week before Christmas, and I'm glad. One of the reasons is because we rarely buy each other big anniversary gifts. We just already have so much that time of year! Last year my husband and I made each other Christmas ornaments. I printed a picture of us with our daughter on fabric and sewed him a cute little ornament framed in Christmas fabric. He really got creative though, using a bunch of golf tees and white wall putty to fashion a snowflake, and then using a red pipe cleaner to spell out JWH^2. (Once we got married we had the same initials. I guess JWH^2=SJH, our daughter!) Anyway, the gifts we've made for each other are by far the dearest. The best part of making the ornaments is seeing what he'll come up with!

First and formost...Happy Anniversary to you!!!

For my husband and I; the perfect anniversary would be to have a friend watch our kids (3) for a few hours so that my husband and I can go and have a quite dinner to ourselves; having time to remenise about our past 15 years together.

Actually being a mommy and daddy for that long (15 years), you tend to forget what it's like to be a husband and wife...although I wouldn't change it for the world, just sometimes I'd love to forget about everything else and just focus a few moments for us to remember what it was that made us fall in love with each other...

He arranged for babysitters then took me out on a date. He blindfolded me and took me for a ride to the very place where we met which is an old restaurant. When we got there I removed the blindfold and he immediately gave me a kiss. We took photos and he presented me with a new bracelet. We took photos and enjoyed the moment reminiscing and we also noticed that the old restaurant is currently a Wedding Chapel. We also walked around the downtown area that which was also were he asked me to be his wife. After that we went to a restaurant and had some hot chocolate to warm up and had a wonderful dinner. Congratulations on your fifth anniversary. My sweet hubby and I just celebrated our fifth about a month ago. We currently live in Idaho, though we are both from Ohio, and there are places here to see and things to do before we move back "home." We planned to go to a Bed and Breakfast for the weekend, but we had family in at the time. Instead, we have postponed our anniversary celebration weekend trip. We will spend a weekend in a new, but not too far away locale, and without our various technological toys. No computers, no phones, no iPods; just us (maybe the mountain bikes), a deck of cards and/or other board games. We'll take a step away from the things that pull us in different directions everyday and spend the whole weekend entertaining each other and being "kids" together.

My love and I met in a large park near a Botanical Garden many years ago, totally unexpectedly - I was showing my visiting cousin the park and he was being shown the gardens by a girl with whom I'd had high school German classes and with whom he'd gone to college! I remember being impressed with his light blue shirt and the pink carnation he had peeking out of his shirt pocket! For our anniversary we always return to that spot at the edge of the Botanical Gardens and relive the moment we first came to know each other via Kathy, the one who'd "schooled" with both of us! So for your anniversary, go back to your meeting place, if at all possible, and remember the beauty and intensity of that first love!

This year marks our 15th anniversary. Hubby has not been wearing his wedding ring, as his finger size has grown and it leaves terrible marks when he forces it on and off. We'd get it resized but there's an intricate pattern on it that I doubt can be made to look good. So I'm planning to buy him a new ring; not sure yet how I'll surprise him with it.

Congrats on you 5 year anniversary. This year will be our 20th!!! We usually leave the kids (teenagers at home) and just keep it simple by enjoying a nice dinner with a bottle of wine.

Happy Aniversary!! We will be celebrating our 8th anniversary this year with a nice dinner out probably. But for our 10th, we are going to a B&B in VA that I've been wanting to go to for awhile. I can't wait :)

I think a small shadow box with a special picture and some little trinkets that represent things that are special to the couple is a great, and original gift! Thanks, and happy anniversary!

My husband and I spent our first anniversary stuck at JFK, after American Airlines cancelled our flight to St. Maarten because they didn't have a plane. Really. I don't recommend that, although now (a few months later) we laugh about it. We were able to re-book on Delta the next day, and our travel agent got us a day pass to the Ritz in San Juan, which I do recommend. A night in any luxe hotel, where you can order room service and don't have to hang up your towels or make the bed in the morning, is a great anniversary gift!

My husband & I love to go to our favorite Bed & Breakfast in Eureka Springs, AR, "The Evening Shade" The secluded cottage has an inroom hottub, fireplace, backporch swing overlooking woods. On occassion we see deer in the woods. Breakfast is delivered to our room each morning. We love being pampered! There'so much to do for entertainment that is free or little cost.

We have four children and one on the way. We have never had a chance yet to go away for our anniversary (12yrs this year). Some day, we hope to go back and stay in the same cabin that we honeymooned at and enjoy ourselves as much as we did back then. Some day!

kaylee8 said...

A second honeymoon trip would be the ideal celebration!

Kate said...

Without knowing you well enough to offer a specific suggestion... I think my advice is simply to think of something that will help you "remember" and bring back the day. It could be anything - a bottle of the wine served at your wedding, a recreation of the meal served... some activity or event that puts the focus on the two of you strikes me as the perfect way to celebrate. Enjoy!!

For our five year anniversary my husband and I were short on cash and with a new baby were short on time. So, we each picked out a nicely decorated box and filled with with written memories of our last five years together. We then exchanged the boxes and now each have a wonderful keepsake of some of our favorite moments, stories, or quirks about the other person.

Our third anniversary is October 1st, we probably wont do much. Drop the kid off with the g-parents and grab sushi and maybe a movie.

I like the idea of writing out a letter to my husband stating all the reasons I fell in love with him and framing it for him to keep, I am sure that would be in addition to a "normal" present, but I hope it would mean the most.

AS luck would have it my husband is always away on military duty on our anniversary. Out of the 6 years we've been married we've had two anniversaries together. So he's had to get creative, my favorite "gift" from him was a video message he created for me. It meant so much even though he was so far.

Happy Anniversary! Congrats to you and your husband!

My husband and I, back in the halcyon pre-kid days, got married on mother's day weekend. OOPS! Who even thinks about such things? Anyway, last year was our 1st trip without kids in 8 years! Our idea was to go to the town we went to on our honeymoon, a place we frequent on family trips, and just go WITHOUT an itinerary. We stayed at hotels that would scare you off in mommy-mode, and they ended up being hidden treasures! 6 miles of private beach...free mulled wine at bedtime...We learned the lesson of just going where the journey takes you, and enjoying it together :) I hope you guys can just enjoy being together on your special day.

Congratulations on your 5th anniversary. My husband and I will be married for 21 years this fall and we are doing something alittle diffrent. Our twins will completely finished with school within the next 5 years so we are planning the next phase of our marriage on our anniversary. We are going out to lunch and to a log cabin show and seminar. We have always wanted a cabin in the mountains so we are going to use our special day to start laying the groundwork for this.

OK this is easy. Do a scavenger hunt! Make it so that he knows exactly what you write on certain clues around the house. Last one should lead to you in a certain room in the house that is locked with a key!

This is the perfect time of the year for an anniversary. Slipping away to a hidden cabin in the mountains and spending a several days sounds like a great way to celebrate an anniversary.

I am on my second marriage. I have 3 kids from my first and my husband and i were unable to take a honeymoon. For our 6 month anniversary, we are going to NYC next week! How do I hope to celeabrate a future anniversary? The announcement of a baby on the way!

Congrats on 5 years! We're getting married next year and I can't wait! Since we're so tight on money lately I like to celebrate by doing something special for him - like make his favorite meal and all the sides plus dessert and then surprise him. Or "kidnap" him and take him to the local nature center for a long hike and a picnic.

We celebrated our anniversary by behaving like honeymooners. We spent the night at the former Meridien Hotel in Boston acting like kids, and eating from the Saturday chocolate buffet & fountain. Then we ventured around Boston (our city of work and home) went sightseeing with a tourist's eye. It was fun.

In the future my husband and I hope to renew our vows, just the two of us, in a tropical romantic place. But this year was very special in a simple way. We spent the evening on the front porch holding hands and watching our grandson play with his friends.

Let's see... Five year gifts are either wood or silverware. Myself? Black thumb...so a live tree wouldn't be the best idea for me. Perhaps planting a love tree would be okay for you two? If not, maybe a cute little fire built on the beach on a balmy night would be a great romantic event, and then toast marshmallows on new Spinmallows (that could be your fancy new 'silverware').

Congratulations on your anniversary!

Something I'm hoping to do for a future anniversary is plan a trip to Rome. My husband loves history, and he's never been, and it's such a fantastic and romantic city!

Why don't you celebrate over 2 days? One day he picks and the next day you pick. The key is you each pick something else you think the other would LOVE. This would be a great way to honor your marriage and give each other something that is really meaningful.

Congrats on your anniversary!

We just celebrated our 3-year Wedding Anniversary this week! :)
We had a nice lunch, went bowling and laughed so hard we cried, took the dog for a walk together, got ice cream, had a sunset picnic in the park, and then lit sparklers when it turned dark (we had them leftover from 4th of July). Basically, we celebrate by spending the day together and doing things that remind us how much we like to just hangout and spend time together.
