Surprise Giveaway: The Cold Seat

Although I hate losing an hour of sleep, I do love the thought of spring and summer. But with the warmth of summer comes the stifling hot car that we must be subjected to. And car seats seem to make our babies even hotter...yet another worry!!

Thanks to Cold Seat, there is one less worry this summer. (And for many more summers to come!)

What is the Cold Seat? I am glad you asked! Cold Seat is a car seat cover that provides a safe and comfortable environment for your children during hot weather months.

By using this freezable seat cooler, you don't have to wait for the air conditioner to cool that seat down. It's ready, it's cool, and it's safe! Using freezable ice packs tucked into an attractive cover, Cold Seat provides a durable, reliable, and affordable way to protect your child from burns or other heat-related injuries. Just by covering the car seat - it's that simple!

And thanks to the maker of Cold Seat, (2) lucky Houses, Couches and Babies readers will win a Cold Seat to protect their precious cargo throughout warm/hot weather (retail value $49.95).

Here's how to enter:

  • Check out the Cold Seat website and post a comment right here telling us why you would like to win a Cold Seat (creativity counts!)
  • In your comment, please be sure to include your name (or blogger name) as well as your city/state/country (anonymous comments will not be accepted; obviously because we won't know who you are!)
  • Post your comment by midnight PST on Sunday, March 16th.

The winner will be announced some time after March 16th, so please keep checking back to see if you are a winner! THE WINNER WILL NOT BE CONTACTED...SO KEEP CHECKING BACK!!!

Good Luck!

That is just what I need. Living in the desert makes the summer especially brutal. I would love to win this product!

THAT IS BRILLIANT! What an incredible idea! I would love to win this because we have an ancient van that has no air conditioning and in the heat of a prairie summer you could literally fry and egg on the kid seat buckles! I am certain that my 15 month old little girl would be ever so blissfully happy NOT to burn her precious skin on the seat buckles. Not to mention the fact that it comes in super cute patterns.

Tragically I didn't know about this amazing idea when my sons were younger... both of them experienced the dreaded sun heated car seat.

I'd never heard of this, it seems ironic to contemplate it in the middle of this $&%(ing snowstorm.

It got to be more than 110 degrees IN THE HOUSE last September on more than on occasion. I might really NEED this product.

What a great idea. We live in Idaho and do not have air conditioning. There are only a few days that we really need it, but when we do it is miserable.

If you've ever been to North Carolina in the summer, you'd know how much any mom here would KILL for this invention. My neighbor is expecting a July baby this summer and I would LOVE to give this to her for a shower present. Thanks HC&B's for sharing this wonderful product!!!

Can you imagine this scenario? NOT fighting a toddler to get them in their carseat? Maybe even, gasp, them ASKING to get in the carseat? That was my first reaction to this product. Of course, it probably had to do with the "joyous" time we had yesterday trying to put a squirming, amazingly limber 14 month old in the back of my car yesterday. :)

Hello, I learn so much on blog sites like yours. Why didn't I think of this product?! It makes so much sense! I like the fact that it is one size fits all car seats, it is washable and that it has a velcro fastener for folding it and thus making reusing more convenient. Of course, if you take the car seat out for a picnic or such, the baby could still reap the benefits. You could then possible put the cold seat in the cooler. Please enter me in your drawing. Thanks,Cindi

I would love this. We moved to the desert last summer and my daughter would cry getting into her seat. Covering it with a towel just does not do it! I love this is easy to use and will really work!

Loading into the car in the summer months requires a special checklist here in sunny AZ.

Oven Mitts - check

Sunscreen for any exposure to windows - check

Burn Ointment for when you touch bare skin to ANYTHING in/on/around the car - check

Windscreen to deflect skin melting hot air coming from air conditioning unit for the first 10 minutes - check

20 gallons of ice water for when your tire blows out on the scorching pavement and you are stranded waiting for hubby to rescue you and the kids from the heat.

My daughter likes Looney Tunes and she actually made the comment that "My biscuits are burnin'" a few times when she got put in her seat. For that reason alone she (and I to alleviate my guilt over her burnt buscuits) need this nifty invention. I wonder if they have considered making it in adult size yet?

My grandaughter needs one of these for the hot Carolina summers. I am of the opinion that women have to live with hot flashes in their later years and there is no reason that little girls need experience anything like them when products like this are available. FREE THE GIRLS FROM BEING HOT!!!

What a great invention. I love that it fits all carseat sizes so that it can still be used as your child grows (unlike the actual car seat). I would love to win this product. Pick me!

Love it, love it, love it! I commend the maker of this product for putting together a product that sounds so simple, and yet, none of us had ever thought of something so brilliant. I would love to win this for my two year old who always complains his tushy is too hot when we get in the car!

I would love to win this because I live in San Antonio and it is supposed to be 92 tomorrow--March 14th. That's crazy. I worry all the time that I am going to burn my daughter on the nasty metal buckle. I told hubby last year someone needs to come up with a cooling device for car seats. Glad to see someone beat me to it!!! Great find.

This is wonderful! I grew up in Texas (and visit alot) and I am now in Colorado, and we always need something to cool down the seats of my little ones!
It's washable, refreezeable, and something I can keep in the freezer at work, and take out on my way to the babysitters before I pick up my girls (I can switch it between and infant seat, and a full size car set easily, so they both will be cooled down when they get in)

I wish they had these when my older kids were little!

Great idea and giveaway!

Living in the scorching heat of the California Central Valley famous for the desert dry conditions it seems that this product would be a real life savor. I usually have to cover the carseat, then uncover, start the car, run the air, roll down the windows and wait in the 110 degree plus heat for the car to cool down before putting baby in! Vote for me!! Valerie Fresno, CA

Well, when I first heard you wanted creativity in explaining why I needed a Cold Seat...I was going to explain to you how I have spent my entire life being self-conscious about my wide hips...and then one day my hubby put his hands on my hips and told me he loved my "Cowgirl Hips." Later on he would sing to me, "You're One Hot Mama!" So I thought I needed this to cool down my cowgirl hips...but then when I realized this was actually an article for our babies....

Okay so my precious son Levi has autism and is very sensitive to extremes. I would love to keep his car seat comfy for him so as to minimize his dislike of travel. Thank you so much for the opportunity!

I am currently residing in Northern California, in a city between San Francisco and Sacramento. This of course contained in the USA.
